Temporary Planner – Housing Repairs & Awaab’s Law

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Planner to join a busy housing repairs and maintenance team on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating repairs and maintenance appointments, ensuring works are scheduled efficiently and residents receive a responsive and professional service.

A strong understanding of Awaab’s Law and experience working within social housing repairs environments is essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and schedule responsive repairs and maintenance works, ensuring jobs are allocated to the appropriate operatives or contractors.
  • Prioritise repairs in line with urgency, vulnerability, health and safety requirements and statutory obligations.

  • Coordinate appointments with residents, contractors and internal teams.
  • Monitor outstanding and overdue repairs and take appropriate action to prevent delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of appointments, works orders, job progress and resident communications.
  • Liaise with operatives, contractors, surveyors and housing teams to resolve scheduling issues.
  • Identify potential delays and escalate issues where necessary.
  • Ensure residents are kept informed of appointments, changes and progress.
  • Support the delivery of an efficient and customer-focused repairs service.
  • Work in accordance with relevant housing, health and safety, repairs and compliance requirements.

About You

You will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Planner/Scheduler within social housing, housing repairs or property maintenance.
  • Practical experience and a strong understanding of Awaab’s Law, including the management and prioritisation of damp and mould-related cases.
  • Experience managing high volumes of repairs and competing priorities.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with residents, contractors and internal teams.
  • Good IT skills and experience using housing repairs or scheduling systems.
  • The ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of the importance of resident safety, customer service and statutory compliance.
