Overview
An experienced operational professional is required to lead the delivery of a social housing maintenance contract. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient management of service operations, driving performance, compliance, and profitability across all areas of delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the effective management of service operations, optimising resources to achieve contractual requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust policies, procedures, and processes to maintain service excellence and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with the commercial team to meet financial performance targets set during monthly and quarterly reviews.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of managers and operatives to deliver consistently high performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new business while maximising potential within existing client relationships.
  • Manage overall operating and capital budgets for the assigned contract, ensuring financial control and profitability.
  • Deliver services in line with tender assumptions for turnover, gross margin, and site profit.
  • Maintain clear communication channels with clients and internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on KPIs and contract performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards.
  • Support contract mobilisation and ensure smooth transition and delivery from inception to completion.

Team Structure

  • 4 direct reports (Managers)
  • Approximately 10 operatives/works coordinators (WC)

Skills & Experience

  • Strong operational management experience within social housing maintenance or property services.
  • Proven ability to manage large budgets and deliver profitable results.
  • Excellent financial and commercial acumen, with experience in pricing and cost control.
  • Good understanding of legislation in housing maintenance and property management (preferred but not essential).
  • Knowledge of Best Value principles and delivering quality service outcomes.
  • Experience with contract mobilisation and performance management via KPIs.
  • Understanding of Schedule of Rates (SOR) codes and housing sector procurement processes.
  • High level of SHEQ awareness and compliance understanding.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
