Overview
An experienced operational professional is required to lead the delivery of a social housing maintenance contract. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient management of service operations, driving performance, compliance, and profitability across all areas of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the effective management of service operations, optimising resources to achieve contractual requirements.
- Develop and implement robust policies, procedures, and processes to maintain service excellence and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with the commercial team to meet financial performance targets set during monthly and quarterly reviews.
- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of managers and operatives to deliver consistently high performance and customer satisfaction.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for new business while maximising potential within existing client relationships.
- Manage overall operating and capital budgets for the assigned contract, ensuring financial control and profitability.
- Deliver services in line with tender assumptions for turnover, gross margin, and site profit.
- Maintain clear communication channels with clients and internal stakeholders, providing regular updates on KPIs and contract performance.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality (SHEQ) standards.
- Support contract mobilisation and ensure smooth transition and delivery from inception to completion.
Team Structure
- 4 direct reports (Managers)
- Approximately 10 operatives/works coordinators (WC)
Skills & Experience
- Strong operational management experience within social housing maintenance or property services.
- Proven ability to manage large budgets and deliver profitable results.
- Excellent financial and commercial acumen, with experience in pricing and cost control.
- Good understanding of legislation in housing maintenance and property management (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of Best Value principles and delivering quality service outcomes.
- Experience with contract mobilisation and performance management via KPIs.
- Understanding of Schedule of Rates (SOR) codes and housing sector procurement processes.
- High level of SHEQ awareness and compliance understanding.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to liaise effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
